The oldest catholic church in Jembrana, Bali
Welcoming the Christmas holidays, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Palasari Village, Ekasari, Melaya look classy. The oldest Catholic church built in Jembrana decorated with Bali style ornaments seem ornate with Balinese young coconut leaf.
Father Laurentius Mariono Pr, pastor at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Palasari when met, Friday (25/12) said the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church was established by Father Simon Bois on September 15, 1940.
"At first people of Catholic adherents in this region only 24 people. Mid-September 1940, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church was established by Father Simon Bois. Father Simon is the man who introduced Catholic religion in this area for the first time," he explained.
At present, says Father Laurentius, the number of Catholics have a very rapid growth that reached about 1150 inhabitants (327 families). Although the Catholic faithful in Palasari coexist with other people but they can live full harmony with tolerance.
