Bali on the way to exceed 2 million visitors in 2009.
The arrivals of total foreign tourists in Bali for May 2009 were assembled to 181.963 – an increase of 13.8% above May 2009, when 159.877 visitors came to the island.
On a cumulative basis for January to May, total arrivals hit 827,044, up 9.35% from the same period last year. If Bali can sustain the current growth rate of 9.35% through the end of 2009, this translated to 2.15 million visitors and the first time ever that Bali the ’s arrivals crossed the 2 million mark.
Markets of Japan and Austrlia key remain the two major source markets for tourism in Bali, on a base representing a combined market share of 32.54% of all arrivals.
2009 has seen a historic shift in Japan’s number one aligned, a position now held by Australia. In years past, Taiwan and South Korea rounded out the markets of the source of top-four for Bali. However, the changing financial fortunes and the advent of cheap new air services positons have considered the number three and four taken over by people the ’s Republic Of China and Malaysia, respectively.
